LafargeHolcim Bangladesh (LHBL) posted a significant growth in 2019, as consolidated sales revenues jumped to Tk 17,840 million from Tk 1,208 million in 2018, a press statement said yesterday. The company’s initiative on cost optimization also pushed the growth of profit before tax (PBT) by 42 percent over last year, said a financial statement of LHBL yesterday.
The PBT stood at Tk 2,681 million in 2019 which was Tk 1,883 million in 2018. Besides, profit after tax (PAT) also jumped by 56 per cent to reach Tk 1,737 million, as a result, earnings per share for 2019 rose to Tk 1.50 compared to Tk 0.96 in 2018. LHBL Chief Executive Officer Rajesh Surana said impact of increased raw material costs and additional taxes was significant.
“Despite this impact, LafargeHolcim demonstrated a strong performance, and our focus on improving operational efficiencies, commercial innovation and cost optimization is continued to be effective,” he added. LafargeHolcim Bangladesh now owns four cement plants including country’s only operational integrated cement plant in Chhatak.
