The players of the national team expressed their unhappiness to not see Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in the captaincy role any longer in the Bangladesh team. Mashrafe announced his retirement from the captaincy of Bangladesh team in one-day cricket in Sylhet yesterday after he charged the team for six-seven years. Mushafiqur Rahim said they will not get Mashrafe Bin Morataza’s replacement any more in cricket.
“The replacement of Mashrafe bhai will never come. Along with that, I will say that Mashrafe bhai is a part of a family. He is not only an elder brother but also a part of ours. We will miss him as a captain,” said Mushfiqur Rahim. “The team changed wholesale after he took charge of the team. He changed the environment not only in the field but also outside of the field. Of course, we will miss him,” Mushfiqur told reporters.
“Hope he can continue his games if he wishes to play. There is a different meaning of playing under his captaincy or playing with him. Hopefully he could give some more things in the future of Bangladesh,” he added. Mahmudullah Riyad described him as a legend in Bangladesh cricket, saying that he enjoys his games under his charismatic leadership.
“When Mashrafe bhai captains the team, I have enjoyed the entire time. He has captaining the team for the last six-seven years. Mashaallah, we got a lot of successes. I wish the best for his next life. There's no doubt that he is a legend in Bangladesh cricket,” Mahmudullah said. Tamim Iqbal said they have placed in world cricket particularly in one-day cricket that has come through his hand.
“It’s really tough to say about Mashrafe bhai within the short span of time. What he did for Bangladesh cricket, no one including cricketers, cricket board, and supporters should forget him. We should keep him in our mind,” Tamim Iqbal said in his reaction.
“We have placed in a position from 2015-2019 through his hand. Cricket world now evaluates us in one-day cricket. It has been possible for him. What he did for me and us that’s not forgettable,” he said of Mashrafe. Liton Kumar Das praised Mashrafe’s supporting roles for young and fresh players what he did throughout his cricket career.
“I will miss him. He is the best captain in the aspect of Bangladesh. The way he supports the cricketers’ especially young and junior players it’s beyond description. When he debuted, I played under his captaincy. That's my biggest achievement,” said Liton Das, who made his ODI debut under his captaincy. “He always stays beside me. The fresh players who come he supports them. It’s a big matter, when the captain supports a player,” he said of Mashrafe.
“My mind becomes gloomy after receiving the news of his retirement from the captaincy. There is no explanation to me about Mashrafe bhai. He brought me here in cricket. Still my mind is in a sorry state,” Mustafizur Rahman said in his reaction.
“Mashsrafe bhai was unparalleled as an elder brother. We used to go to him if we faced any problem. He tried to solve it on his own. We miss him a lot. Whenever we play with him, we will treat him as our leader even though he is not in the captaincy role,” Mohammad Mithun said.
“The influence of Mashrafe bhai is important for every player. When a player enters the team, support is very important for him. It’s important at every level of cricket. Mashrafe bhai supports us all that is different than others. We’ll miss him as a captain and as a good individual,” said Taijul Islam.
“He keeps us in check. He did not get us the negatives of the internal and external issues. He handled it all aptly. It would be better if he remained with us as a captain,” Al Amin Hossain said.
“I played 40 more one-day internationals. He cares for us. We will miss a hell lot especially those we are younger players. We got him for a shortest period of time. We’re lucky to get him. We played under his captaincy that’s our biggest achievement,” Mehidy Hasan Miraj said.
