The Home Ministry has asked media to refrain from delivering misleading news on the arrest of Juba Mohila League leader Shamima Noor Papia, who was expelled from the organisation recently. A press release, issued by Public Relations Officer of home ministry Sharif Mahmood Apu, said, “Four people, including Papiya alias Pews, were arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on February 22. Later, some print, online and electronic media were publishing and airing news reports mentioning names of some prominent personalities, using sources of the law
enforcement agencies, that may create adverse reactions in the public and cause social chaos.” “It is a legally punishable offense to disseminate inappropriate, disrespectful, misleading and untrue news on the names of important persons at various levels along with those detained in connection with Papiya,” the release added. In this context, the home ministry has asked the authorities concerned to refrain from delivering misleading and untrue news involving important persons of various levels.
