Criminal held with arms
UNB, Joypurhat
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a listed criminal along with arms from Puranapoil in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Zakaria Hossain Rocky, 37, a listed terrorist and son of Nazrul Islam.
Tipped off, a team of Rab-5 conducted a drive in the area around 9:30pm and arrested Rocky along with a pistol, one magazine, eight sharp weapons and three bullets, said Additional Superintendent MM Mohaimenur Rashid, camp commander of Joypurhat Rab-5. Rocky was wanted in 10 criminal cases, said the Rab official.
Man beaten to death by son

A father was beaten to death by a drug-addict son at Bagjan village of Mirzapur Upazila of Tangail district on Tuesday night.
The deceased is identified as Nurul Hoque, 70, of the village. Officer-in-charge of Mirzapur Police Station Md. Sayedur Rahman said that Lavlu son of Nurul Hoque was bailed in a case related to drug on Monday.
Lavlu demanded taka 20 thousand from his father on Tuesday. Father Nurul Hoque denied paying the amount. The addicted son out of fury beat his father on Tuesday night in league with his so-called wife Rokeya Begum. Police arrested Rokeya Begum and Lavlu is absconding.
A case is lodged with Mirzapur Police station.
Farmer killed in Jamalpur

A farmer was killed by some cattle lifters in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Sharafat Ali, 55, son of Zabed Ali at village Ruhili Boalmari in Itail Union of the Upazila. Sources said some cattle lifters came at the house of Sharafat Ali to steal cows. Sensing their present Sharafat Ali tried to prevent them but they stabbed him indiscriminately killing him on the spot.
A case was registered with Jamalpur Sadar Police station.
