An Awami League activist was hacked to death by his rivals over previous enmity at Mollapara in Sharsha upazila on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Anisur Rahman, 40, son of Moslem Uddin of Keralkhali village in the upazila.
Quoting locals, police said Anisur was sitting at a tea stall around 6:30 pm.
At one stage, one Nasir Uddin swooped on him and stabbed him indiscriminately with an axe, leaving him injured, said Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station. Later, he was taken to local hospital where doctors declared him dead around 7:30 pm.
