Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen yesterday said it’s not easy to deal with Myanmar government regarding the repatriation of Rohingyas. “We have taken a strategic stance in this regard and we are still hopeful. The party with which we are dealing is not an easy thing,” he said while addressing the DCAB seminar titled ‘Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Prudent Diplomacy: A Decade of Strong Bangladesh Presence in World Scene’ as the Chief Guest at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen presented a keynote paper at the seminar highlighting various successes and challenges of Bangladesh in the last one decade. Regarding the relations of Bangladesh with its neighbours, the foreign minister said, “If anything happens there, it has an impact on us as a neighbour. So, we told our neighbour that they should not do anything that may create trouble for us as we are your friend, biggest friend.”
According to him, “The current relation with our neighbour (India) is a golden chapter. It is a maturity of acumen of the political leadership. This is imitable for others. We have solved many bigger issues through dialogues,” he added. “We are a political government. We have been elected through the peoples’ mandate. We have to be sensitive to the people’s desires and aspirations. So we tell our neighbours not to do anything that make things difficult to answer before the people,” he added. “The friendship is a win-win relation,” he added.
