3,726 affected by cold-related diseases

Various cold-related diseases affected 3,726 people across the country in the last 24 hours till yesterday morning. Data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room showed that 827 of the patients received treatment for acute respiratory infection (ARI). Another 1,555 people were treated for diarrhoea and 1,344 for other diseases, including jaundice, eye inflammation, skin problems and fever.
2 dengue patients reported

Two new dengue patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours till 8am yesterday, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). According to daily update from DGHS, two dengue patients are being treated at hospital in the capital. Since the beginning of this year, 246 dengue cases were reported. Of them, 244 had been discharged from hospitals. Bangladesh experienced a massive dengue outbreak last year. The government confirmed that dengue had claimed the lives of 164 people last year. The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed the number after reviewing 263 out of 266 reports of dengue-related deaths.
EPAD gets office-bearers

Rabiul Alam Shahin (TNN) and Zahid Hasan Sumon (NTV) have been selected as president and as general secretary respectively of ‘Electronics and Print Media Association, Dhanbari’ (EPAD) at a meeting of the 71 TV conference room in the capital on Monday, says a press release. Earlier, the organisation officially has started its journey from on December 5, 2019. That committee has also selected Shamim Rahman (NewslineBD) as vice-president, Enamul Majid Ripon (RTV) as joint general secretary and Abdur Rouf Songram as its organisational secretary. Other members of the committee are-- Office secretary Saiful Islam Sujon (NewslineBD); Deputy Office secretary Humazun Kabir (71 TV); Publicity secretary Md Younus (Daily Bangladesh News); Deputy Publicity Secretary Badhan Ahmed (Faka Bakso); Publication secretary Nur-Nabi Sheikh (News Tangail); Deputy Publication secretary Hafizur Rahman (MTV); Sports Secretary Md Zahirul Islam Milon (Bangladesh Post); Deputy Sports secretary Sajjatul Yakin (TNN); Cultural secretary Chopal Mahmud (Amader Somoy); Sub Cultural secretary Sharifuzzaman Manik (MSTV); Information Visual secretary Ramjan Ali (Weekly Purbakash) and Deputy Information Visual secretary Syed Sajan Ahmed Raju (STV). Executive members-- Muqaddem Babu (ATN Bangla), Ariful Islam Rony (bdnews24. com), Ansar Ali (Daily Samakal), Md Shahidullah (Daily Amader Somoy), Saidur Rahman Babu (71 TV) and Solayman Hossain (NewslineBD). Abu Md Mufazazal (The New Nation), Khandakar Alamgir (Matra), Abu Md Masani (The Independent), Syed Ahsan Apon (Expressions), SMS Jahangir Alam (Weekly Tri Mohonar Dheu), Abdullah Abu Ehsan (Daily Amader Somoy) and Jibon Mahmud Shakti (Ajker Jamalpur) have been made advisers of the committee.
MA Wahab elected Rotary Governor

Engr MA Wahab has been elected District Governor of Rotary International District 3281 Bangladesh for 2022-23, says a press release. He was elected at the Rotary District Conference held in Dhaka on Saturday. MA Wahab is associated with several social organisations.
