BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday accused the government of forcing doctors to give incorrect reports on party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s health condition. “It is unfortunate for us that the BSMMU hospital could not provide the actual report. The government forced the doctors to give incorrect reports on Khaleda Zia's health condition,” he said.
The veteran BNP leader was speaking at a human chain programme in front of the National Press Club in the capital.
His made these comments four days after Khaleda’s medical board placed its report before the High Court (HC) during a hearing of her bail petition in the Zia Charitable graft case.
The BNP organised the meeting in protest against the increases in the prices of water and power.
Fakhrul alleged that the judiciary and the higher court were unable to provide justice due to an ‘authoritarianism and fascist state mechanism’.
He said that Khaleda was very sick and her fasting sugar level was detected at 14.5 during a blood test on February 25. If such sugar levels persist, the BNP chief's heart, kidneys and lungs could be impacted, he added.
The BNP secretary general criticised the government for its failure to maintain law and order, deal with the Rohingya problem, prevent border killings, and ensure the sharing of waters of common rivers with neighbouring countries.
