One held with 14 gold bars at Dhaka airport

Airport Aviation Security officials yesterday seized 14 gold bars weighing total 1.650 kilograms and detained one person at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here. The arrested was identified as Musa Miah, 35, a cleaner of the airport. Director of Shahjalal Airport Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul-Ahsan confirmed BSS about the seizure saying that, “The gold bars were found after searching his body around 6 am, when he was trying to leave the airport through the Hanger Gate number 8.”

He was handed over to the Dhaka Customs later, said the official. According to Customs, APBN Police and Ansar, he was spotted to behave suspiciously by the officials and was held immediately.

He denied while asked about hiding anything but the officials searched him eventually and found the bars attached to his pants with black scotch-tapes. The market value of the seized bars is approx Tk 80 lakh, said the officials.
