Three killed, 7 injured in road crashes in 4 dists

At least 3 people were killed and 7 others injured in road crashes in Gazipur, Kushtia, Patuakhali and Gopalganj yesterday.

In, Gazipur, a youth was killed and two others were injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Porabari area of the town yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Emon, 18, helper of a pick-up van, hailed from Mymensingh district.

Police said the accident occurred when a truck hit a pick-up van in the area around 6 am, leaving Emon dead on the spot, reports UNB.

The body was sent to Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital and a case was filed in this connection, the police sources said.

In Kushtia, a cattle trader was killed when the locally made vehicle carrying him fell into a roadside ditch early

yesterday. The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam, 40, son of Muntaz from Amlabaria village of Khoksha upazila.  

Local people said that Nazrul was going to Darbashpur village when the vehicle, locally known as Nasimon, overturned and fell into the ditch, left him dead on the spot.

In Patuakhali, three people were injured when a motorcycle collided with a sand-laden truck on Kuakata beach area yesterday. The injured were identified as Mohammad Nur Alam, 42, Salam Sheikh, 60 and Jalal Khan, 45. They were rushed to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

In Gopalganj, an Army man was killed in a head-on collision between a covered van and a motorcycle on Tuesday, from which his wife and her friend escaped with serious injuries.

The deceased was identified as Achintaya Kumar Biswas, 35, while the injured are his wife Bashona Biswas, 30, and Juthi, 29. All of them were on the motorcycle.
