Six killed in road crashes in 4 dists

STAFF REPORTER, Dhaka

Six people including a child were killed in separate road crashes in Dhaka, Kurigram, Barishal and Magura yesterday. The crashes left five others injured.

A security guard was run over and killed by a train in Khilkhet area of the capital yesterday.  sThe deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam (30), son of Mahed Ali in Adalatpur village of Satkhira’s Ashashuni upazilla.

According to witnesses, Shahidul was run over by a train on the Khilkhet rail track around 4:30pm. He was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where doctors referred him Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Doctors at DMCH declared him dead on arrival.

In Kurigram, a motorcycle hit a toddler on Panakuri- Memberpara road under Nageshwari upazilla yesterday. The child was identified as Rakib (4), son of Altab

Hossain of Memberpara village. While passing by, the boy was hit from behind by a motorcycle on. OC Roushan Kabir confirmed the incident.

In Barishal, a teenager was killed in another road crash yesterday. The accident took place in Bakerganj upazilla. He was identified as Pankaj.

Meanwhile, separate road accidents in Magura Sadar upazila left three people, including a student, dead and five others injured yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Kiblu Mridha, 45, Yasin Molla, 25, and Bayzid Molla, 14.

A truck collided head-on with a human hauler in front of the Parnanduali Mosque around 5:30am. Human hauler driver Kiblu was killed on the spot.

Meanwhile, human hauler driver Yasin was killed and five others were injured after a truck hit his vehicle in Ghumgati area.

In another incident, ninth grader Bayzid died after his motorcycle was hit by a human hauler in Pistopur area.  

Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Saiful Islam said the bodies had been sent to Sadar Hospital for autopsy.  

Three separate cases were filed over the accidents, he said.
