Bandhu Social Welfare Society (Bandhu) is going to organise a cultural programme titled ‘Positive Vibes’ with Dr Narthaki Nataraj, a pioneer Bharatanatyam dancer with outstanding performance and an activist for the transgender community. The programme will take place today at 6pm at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbag in the capital. With an aim to create mass awareness among mainstream population and gender diverse population, Bandhu has organised the event.
In 2019, Dr Narthaki Nataraj was awarded the Padma Shri, making her the first transgender woman to be awarded this honourable award by State. Her presence in a mass gathering in Bangladesh will create gender sensitive awareness and self-rightous sense inside the gender diverse community.
Dr Narthaki Nataraj will be felicitated at the event. The programme will also feature a dance performance by Narthaki Nataraj and group dance by the artistes of Swatta.
Bandhu Social Welfare Society (Bandhu) has been working since 1996 for the sexual and reproductive health, human rights and overall well being of the sexual minority population of the country including livelihoods of their choices.
The programme is open for all on a registration basis.
