Nabanno Utsav, a harvest festival, was celebrated across the country on November 15, the first day of the Bengali month Agrahayan.

After cutting new paddy, farmers return home with their bounty and the joyous time is celebrated  with pitha (rice pies) made from fresh rice flour,  folk songs and dances and rural fairs.

In the capital, the festival was observed at Bakultala of Dhaka University’s Fine Arts Faculty to give city residents a taste of traditional festivities.
