Woman hacked to death

A woman was killed during an attack by a group of criminals  at Barhar village in Kapasia upazila early yesterday. The deceased was Rozena Akhter, 40, of the village. Husband of the deceased Aman Ullah, 48, and his son Sumon, 23, were also seriously injured during the incident. Locals said a group of 10-12 men wearing masks broke into the house at around 2.30 am. They beat up Aman severely with an iron rod. They also beat up Rozena and hacked her with machete when she came to rescue her husband, leaving the couple injured. Their son Sumon was also injured in the attack. Hearing their scream, locals went to the house, rescued the injured and sent them to Kapasia health complex, where doctor declared Rozena dead. The two injured were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in serious condition. Police arrested five people on suspicion of their involvement in the incident.
