4 DU teachers, 16 students get Dean’s Award

Total sixteen meritorious students of different departments under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Dhaka University (DU) have been given ‘Dean’s Award’ for their outstanding academic results in BS (Honors) examinations of 2017 and 2018.
Besides, four teachers of the faculty have received this award for their excellent research works. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed the awards among the brilliant teachers and students at a function held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university on Thursday.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Md Hasanuzzaman presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Muhammad Samad and Treasurer Prof Md Kamal Uddin addressed it as special guests. Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman urged the brilliant students to become skilled human resources to face the challenges of forth industrial revolution. They must play an effective role in making Dhaka University as the world-class one through advanced level researches and academic activities. The award recipients teachers are – Prof Md Rezaul Karim (Computer Science and Engineering), Associate Prof Abul Kalam Azad (Electrical and Electronic Engineering), Assistant Prof Sejuti Rahman (Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering) and Assistant Prof Mithun Sarker (Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering).
The award recipients students are- Mir Md Fahimul Islam, Anindya Das Antar, Swapnil Sayan Saha, Sarah Cynthia Gomes (Electrical and Electronic Engineering), Anika Tabassum Promi, Md Kaium Hossain, Amina Akter Elora, Raihan Ahamed (Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering), Md Fahim Arefin, Jargis Ahmed, Redwan Ahmed Rizvee, Nahian Ashraf (Computer Science and Engineering), Nazmul Hossain, Kazi Azman Rafee, Afrida Fairuz and ATM Jahid Hasan (Nuclear Engineering).
Bangabandhu Counseling Cell formed at IU

The authorities of Islamic University formed Bangabandhu Counseling Cell on the campus.
A press release, signed by IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif, was issued in this regard on Friday. Vice-chancellor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari formed the cell headed by Reba Mondal, a professor of the Department of Law and also the provost of Khaleda Zia Hall of the university. Professor Rashid Askari said that the hall students will be able to get counseling for various problems in the counseling cell.
