Five people, including three women, drowned as a boat capsized in Kaptai Lake of Rangamati district yesterday.
The deceased women were identified as Rina, Shila and Asma while the identities of the other two could not be known yet.
Witnesses said the boat carrying 15 people on board sank in the lake upon collision with another boat around 12 pm.
Five people drowned while the rest managed to swim ashore. The district administration along with the local Fire Service Department men started rescue operation.
Meanwhile, another report from Rangamati says one of the three children, went missing since a tourist boat sank in Karnaphuli River, was found dead yesterday afternoon. Divers of fire service recovered the body of Deblila,
10, around 4 pm, said Ashraf Ahmed, said officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandraghona Police Station.
Divers are searching for the other missing passengers - Binoy, 5, and Tumpa Majumdar, 3.
The children had gone missing after the boat sank around 11am, said Additional Superintendent of Police Sufi Ullah.
