All quarantined China-returned passengers to be released today

All China-returned Bangladeshi passengers, quarantined in the capital’s Ashkona Hajj Camp since February 1, will be released in the afternoon today upon a complete assessment of their overall health situation. Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora said this yesterday during her regular briefing on coronavirus updates in Dhaka. She, however, said that a decision in this regard would be taken after a complete assessment of their physical condition.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the loss of lives in Wuhan city and other places across China following the outbreak of ‘Coronavirus’. Also the president of ruling party Bangladesh Awami League, she conveyed her sincere sympathy to the families of the victims.

She also expressed her hope for the presence of China President Xi Jinping in Bangladesh during the inauguration ceremony of Bangabandhu’s Birth Centenary marking the ‘Mujib Year’ scheduled to be held on March 17, 2020.

In a message written to President Xi, who is also the general secretary of Chinese ruling party CPC, Hasina expressed her firm conviction that the Government of China will be able to face and stop the aggravation of the deadly virus situation with utmost capacity and control.
