IU entry test results published
The results of admission test for the first year honours courses under E and F units of Islamic University (IU) for 2015-16 academic session have been published yesterday. A total of 9,205 aspirants have fight against 135 seats for 'E' unit and 2,010 aspirants for 'F' unit of the university. The admission seekers have to know their own result from the university website www.iu.ac.bd.

50 hurt in clash in Sylhet

At least 50 people were injured, including three with bullets, in a clash over catching fish in a water body at Karilgaon village of Sylhet district on Wednesday afternoon. The three bullet-injured were Sokhojjul Islam, Sadikur Rahman and Saheb Ali, residents of the village. Quoting villagers, police said Kachhai Miah of the village along with his men forcibly caught fish from the water body in possession of one Zillur Rahman at  noon.
The clash ensued as Zillur obstructed them from catching fish. The supporters of two groups equipped with locally made weapons locked into a fierce clash. The clash that continued for two hours left fifty people injured, including three with bullets. The critically injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Ashok Suja Mamun, officer-in-charge of Chhatak Police Station, confirmed the incident.

Gas stove blast injures 4 in N’ganj

At least four members of a family sustained burn injuries in gas stove explosion at a house in Natun Court Talla Barobari area of Narayanganj city early yesterday. The injured were Manir,35, his wife Minara,28, and his two nephews Rimon,25, and Asif alias Arif,16. Mojammel Haque, inspector of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp, said a fire broke out at the kitchen of the house following explosion of the gas stove around 4:30am, leaving four people injured. The injured were rushed to the burn unit of DMCH at about 6am.

14 youths to get training

Some 14 youths both male and female from the ethnic minority communities are going to receive skill development training in Rajshahi this year, development activists in a project orientation meeting said yesterday. After getting the technical and vocational training, the beneficiaries will get scopes of being income generators, they added. Institute for Environment and Development (IED) under its 'Empowerment and Capacity Building of Ethnic Minorities Project' will impart the training in order to transform the unemployed youths into worthy citizens. IED organised the orientation meeting at Muktijoddha Pathagar with Proshanta Kumar Shaha, President of Jonouddyag, in the chair.
