‘Landlord tortures tenants’

A woman, 35, along with her four-year-old daughter, was allegedly physically abused by their landlord’s family at Karigarpara under Chowgacha upazila headquarters of Jashore on Thursday.

Police arrested three after the tortured woman’s husband filed a case in this connection with Chougachha   police station, Mohammad Touhidul Islam, additional superintendent of Jashore said.

The arrestees are Sultana Razia, 45, wife of the landlord, her daughters Jannatara Imam, 24, and Sumaiya Farzana, 20. `The trio- wife and daughters of Jafar Imam were sent to the court,’ police added.

Victim’s husband said, wife of his landlord and her two daughters beat her up unkindly after an altercation accusing her of stealing gold ornaments early Thursday. They also assaulted his four-year-old daughter.

He added, “They forced me to cut my wife’s hair with a scissor. Later neighbours came forward to help and took my wife and child to the upazila health complex”.
