A veil of thick fog and stray clouds shrouded the sun for most of the day yesterday disrupting ferry services. Vessels were unable to negotiate the vast expanse of the Padma at Aricha and Shimulia early in the day. Many of them were stranded for several hours, causing suffering to passengers.
A little shower in different parts of the country, mainly in the south, and dense fog brought a touch of winter. The sun remained hidden by mist in the northern region.
The meteorological department forecast said night temperatures may fall slightly in the next two days. During the next 24 hours, beginning at 6:00pm yesterday, it may drop by 1-2 degrees Celsius, but day temperatures are likely to rise slightly across the country. There are chances of light rain at one or two places in Barisal and Chittagong divisions.
Light to moderate fog may occur over river basins in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Dhaka divisions from midnight till the morning.
