Stocks perform mixed on lower trading

Stocks performed mixed yesterday on low level of activities when major price indices were marginally up, but turnover declined at the country’s twine stock exchanges, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended the day flat at 44.96, 68, with the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES finished marginally lower at 1706.33 and at 1081.98 respectively.
The daily trade value also fell by 13.68 per cent to Taka 347.17 crore when the volume declined by 8.76 per cent to 9.41 crore shares.
Banking, cement, textile and telecom sectors declined on the day when the major losing companies were Rahima Textile, Gemini Sea, Alltex, Desh Garment and MI Cement. Out of the 308 issues traded, 138 securities closed the session lower. Food and Allied and fuel and power were the major advancing sectors, with Miracle Industries, Union Capital, Alas Bangladesh, HR Textile and Phoenix Finance the major gainers among the 136 advancing issues.
Saif Power topped the turnover leaders followed by Titas Gas, Ifad Autos, Beximco Pharma and Quasem Drycell.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also showed mixed trend on Wednesday when its major CSCX closed flat at 8350.15 and transactions declined on cautious buying.
Out of the day’s 228 issues traded, 90 gained and 102 incurred losses. The daily trade volume fell to 7.60 lakh shares and the value decreased to Taka 23.94 crore.
