ULAB, Asian University for Women sign MoU
CHITTAGONG: The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and the Asian University for Women (AUW) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic and research exchange between the two leading liberal arts institutions of the region, says a press release.
The MOU covers joint research collaboration, exchange of educational and research staff and students, as well as exchange of publication, academic materials and others information.
The MoU was signed by Professor Imran Rahman, vice-chancellor, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and Professor John W Schroeder, Dean of the Faculty, Asian University for Women.
Dr Shahana Afrose Chowdhury, Associate Professor cum Researcher, Ms Basundhara Tripathy, Visiting Researcher cum Assistant Professor of ULAB, Ms Tasneem Abedin, Director of HR & Registrar, and Sarmad Hasan, Chief Financial Officer of AUW, witnessed the signing ceremony.
RUET, SUST test results published
RAJSHAHI: Results of the admission test for the first year B.Sc Engineering course at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) for 2015-16 academic session was published on Tuesday night, a RUET press release said yesterday.
The result was made public through a notice signed by Prof Dr Nirendra Nath Mustafi, Chairman of the admission committee.
Details of the results are available at the university website www.ruet.ac.bd and RUET Notice board, the release added.
This year, a total of 6,150 students appeared in the admission test held on November 14. Of them, 815 qualified students will get chance for admission in 12 departments.
The qualified students will be admitted on December 10.
Meanwhile, The results of the admission tests for the first year honours programmes at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) for 2015-16 session was published on Tuesday night.
Details of the results are available at the university’s website (website:www.sust.edu/admission/result.php.
A total of 32785 students appeared in the admission tests for A and B unit, held on Saturday last.
Among them, 25580 candidates came out successful.
For getting results through SMS, candidates will have to type “SUST <space> Exam Roll number” and send it to 16242 from any mobile operator.
3 jailed for cheating in IU entry test
Three persons were jailed over cheating in the admission test for the first year honors courses under ‘F’ unit of Islamic University (IU) for the 2015-16 academic session.
They were identified as fake examinee Abul Hossain, third year student of DU, department of chemistry, Ripon, masters’ student of IU, department of mathematics and Shymal, first year student of Kushtia Govt College, department of political science.
Sources said magistrate Khodeja Khatun sentenced Abul Hossain to one year jail under the public exam act 1980 (3), and Ripon and Shymol to six months under assisting & forgery act 1980 (7), (13).
IU Proctor Mahbubur Rahman said although the mobile court sent Ripon to jail, IU authorities will also take step against him.
Seminar on World Diabetes Day held at AIUB
Department of Public Health of the American International University -Bangladesh organised a seminar on 'Diabetes and Dietary Habit' at the AIUB auditorium in the capital recently, says a press release.
The programme was addressed by the Pro-vice -chancellor of AIUB Dr Charles Villanueva and Chaired by Prof Dr Tazul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. Chief guest was Brig. Gen. (Rtd.) Md. Abdul Majid Bhuiyan, Director (Hospital), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
The special attractions of the seminar were the seminar speakers Akhtarun Nahar (Nutritionist, BIRDEM) who spoke in Diabetes and Dietary Habits and Dr Md Abdur Rahim (Diabetic Specialist and Epidemiologist) who spoke on Prevention of type 2 diabetes.
World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign of the diabetes world and is held on November 14 each year.
It was introduced in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organisation in response to the alarming rise of diabetes around the world.
