Passenger arrested with 82 gold bars

Members of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) arrested a passenger along with 82 gold bars, weighing around 9.5 kilogrammes at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong yesterday.
The price of the seized gold bars was estimated at Tk 4.50 crore. The arrestees were identified as Md Saiful Alam, 46.
Acting on a tip-off, the customs officials searched Saiful’s luggage while he was crossing the green signal of airport and found the gold bars. He came from Muscat of Oman at 6pm, said CIID sending a SMS (Short Messing Service) sources.
