Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu yestedray said the films would work as shield in protecting the country's traditional culture and the spirit of war of liberation despite recklessness of militant demons, reports BSS.
The minister said this as the chief guest while inaugurating Bangladesh Film and Television Academy (BFTA) at Uttara in the capital.
Noted actress Subarna Mustafa and producer and actor Afzal Hossain attended as special guest at the function with drama director and actor Aly Zaker in the chair.
BFTA advisors professor Syed Monjurul Islam, film personality MA Alamgir, designer Chandra Shekor Saha and ad maker Piplu R Khan were present. BFTA chief executive Afsana Mimi conducted the function.
Recalling different stages of Bangladesh to become an independent state, the information minister said that the great leader Bangabandhu had given our national identity as Bangalee by doing away with the cloak of communalism.
"Our identity is reflected in our country's culture," he observed. Hasanul Haq Inu said synchronisation is a must between film-television programmes and digital technology, saying stopping vulgarism is a big challenge right now in the film industry.
The minister refereed to Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI), which started its journey last year under government patronization, and wished success of all private initiatives on film and television.
