C&F officlal freed on bail

Saiful Islam, an official of a C&F agent, who was arrested on charge of importing liquid cocaine, was granted bail yesterday.
He is the first accused who was released on bail in the sensational liquid cocaine haul case. He was released from Chittagong jail yesterday at around 3:30pm said Chittagong Jail sources and Investigation Officer of the case Md Kamaruzzaman, and assistant commissioner of Detective Branch (North) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP). He was arrested from city’s Agrabad  on 14 July this year.  The others arrested of the case were Golam Mostafa Sohel, managing director of Prime Hatchery and Khanjahan Ali Limited, Atikur Rahman, business executive of Mandal Group, a business firm of readymade garments exporters, AK Azad, manager of Cosco Bangladesh Shipping Lines Ltd and Mostafa Kamal, an official of a private developer company and Mehedi Alam, executive of a securities firm who are now behind the bar.
As per a report of the Interpol, the CMP requested the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) to seal off a container which was imported from Bolivia. On June 6, 2015 in the presence of CPA, customs intelligence and CMP officials, the containers, suspected to have 107 drums filled with liquid cocaine, were sealed off at Chittagong Port. On June 8, the container carrying drums were opened and examined in the presence of senior officials of police, department of narcotics control, intelligence branch, customs intelligence and CPA.      
However, the narcotics department, in the field-level examination conducted on the same day, found no existence of cocaine.
So, the sample of the edible oil sent to Dhaka for further test. On June 27, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate informed that in a drum with oil cocaine was detected.
