Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday said the state-run Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) with 1,537 buses in its fleet earned Taka over Taka 234 crore during the 2014-2015 fiscal year, reports BSS.
Replying a question from treasury bench member Golam Dastagir Gazi in the Jatiya Sangsad today, the minister said the BRTC has 238 air-conditioned (AC) buses.
Obaidul informed the House that the BRTC earned Taka 234.07 crore and spent Taka 230.5 crore during the said fiscal year.
Earlier, the corporation earned Taka 243.1 crore and spent Taka 233.5 crore in the 2013-2014 financial year, the minister said.
Replying to another question from Jatiya Party member Peer Fazlur Rahman, Quader said the government constructed 1,781 kilometre roads across the country from the 2008-2009 to 2014-2015 financial years.
