The Appellate division yesterday stayed a High Court division order that had stayed the Local Government Ministry’s notification suspending Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, reports UNB. Chamber judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order following an appeal filed by the state. The judge also sent the appeal to the regular bench of the Appellate Division, headed by the Chief Justice, fixing June 14 for next hearing. On May 7, the Local Government Ministry issued a notification suspending the RCC mayor after police submitted chargesheets against him in four cases of vandalism and arson. Following a petition moved by the RCC mayor, the High Court on May 28 stayed the effectiveness of the notification. Later, the state moved the Supreme Court against the High Court order. On June 1, councillor Nizam-ul Azim was made acting mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation following the suspension of Bulbul.
