Two Cameroonians sent to jail in fake note case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday sent two Cameroonians to jail in a case lodged over recovering fake Bangladeshi currency notes from their possessions. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order as police produced Powkam Ticidgeo, 30, and Mohammad Bah, 27, after end of their tow- day remand in the case. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam on January 26 placed the duo on two-day remand as they were arrested from capital’s Dhanmandi area on January 25. Police on January 23, arrested another Cameroonian Bakao Gamara from Moghbazar area and recovered Taka one lakh fake note from him.
Two-day children fair begins

A two-day children fair began here yesterday aiming to educate parents about proper grooming up of children alongside ensuring congenial atmosphere for them in the society. District Information Office under its ‘Awareness buildup Communication for development of Child and Women Programme’ organized the fair on Mohanpur Upazila Parishad Compound premises in the district. The two-day fair included opening rally, competition on different issues, cultural function and film show. With Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zahid Bin Kashem in the chair, Deputy Director of Local Government Division Parvej Raihan addressed the opening ceremony as chief guest while Deputy Director of District Information Office Nafeyala Nasrin, Upazila Vice-chairman Sanzida Rahman and Officer-in-Charge of Mohanpur Police Station Mustaque Ahmed spoke as special guests on the occasion.
Discussion on school health awareness education held

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleaque on Wednesday called for building awareness on health among students. “Health awareness should be raised from the early stage of every student for the greater interest of the future generation,” he said. He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled, ‘School Health Awareness education’ organised by the Family Planning Directorate at health ministry auditorium in the secretariat, said a press release. “School students should be imparted training on proper method of hand-wash, use toilet, bad impact of slitting here and there,” Zahid said.
