4 marine academies to be launched this year

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Wednesday said academic activities will begin this year in four new marine academies – Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Pabna. The minister was speaking at the graduation parade ceremony of the 54th batch of Bangladesh Marine Academy titled ‘Mujib Centenary Graduation Ceremony’ in Chittagong, an official press release said. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Deputy Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel attended the ceremony as the special guests. A total of 104 cadets of Nautical Science and Marine Engineering Departments were conferred degrees through the ceremony.

IU first year classes to begin on Sunday

The classes for the first year honours courses students under academic session 2019-20 of Islamic University in Kushtia will start from Sunday, IU registrar office sources said. IU acting registrar S M Abdul Latif said, the classes of the fresher’s will be held at the respective department. The University authorities would organise a central orientation programme for the fresher’s at the Birshrestha Hammidur Rahman auditorium of the university, he added. This year a total of 2,304 students have been enrolled under eight faculties at the university.
