Baul singer Shariat Sarkar denied bail

A court in Tangail yesterday denied bail to Baul singer Shariat Sarkar, who was arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act for allegedly making comments that hurt ‘religious sentiments’ of Muslims. District and Session’s Judge Mohammad Shawkat Ali Chowdhury passed the order after singer’s counsel Anisur Rahman Humayun filed a bail petition.
