4 more held over gold looting from customs

Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested four workers of Benapole Customs House yesterday morning in connection with looting of 17 kg of gold from its vault.

The arrestees are Tipu Sultan, 28, Laltu Miah, 40, Asad, 35, and Sultan Morol, 55. They had been working at the customs house on contractual basis.

Joint commissioner Shahidul Islam of the customs house said with the arrest of the four, the number of arrestees has risen to five.

Earlier, CID arrested Ajibar in connection with the incident.
