Authorities of Barishal Institute of Health and Technology (IHTI) suspended four students for different terms yesterday for their alleged involvement over beating up a student on the campus.
The students were identified as Debjeet Biswas, 2nd year student of Radiologi department, Emon Mahmud, 2nd year student of Dental department, Saikat Biswas, 2nd year student of Radiologi department and Pias Chandra RuRi, 2nd year student of Pharmacy department.
Two of them have been suspended for one year and other two for six month.
Principal of the institute Dr Saiful Islam, said, “The four students attacked and beat up Md Salauddin, a first year (old) student of a hostel on January 23. Police later rescued Salauddin from the room and admitted to a hospital.
Authorities later formed a committee to find out the facts. The three-member committee submitted their report yesterday. Later academic council of the institute punished them Both students also have been suspended for life.
