Pragatishil Chhatra Sangathan Samuha, an alliance of progressive student organisations, yesterday submitted a memorandum to the home minister through the district administration demanding restoration of proper educational atmosphere on the campuses by preventing alleged terrorist activities of BCL.

Earlier, they formed a human chain in front of the Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city yesterday. Later, a rally was held there.

The rally was presided over by Nobin Ahmed, convener of the alliance. Sujoy Biswas Shuvo, district organiser of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front; Shampa Das, district president of Bangladesh Chhatra Union; Shuvomoy Biswas, Nilima Jahan, Kishor Kumar Bala, student leaders of Barishal University, addressed among others..

The speakers claimed that cadres of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student front of ruling Awami League, created reign of terrorism on different educational campuses of the country.

Autocratic activities of BCL not only ruined the democratic environment of the campuses, but also abolished freedom of speech in educational institutions. By using alleged muscle powers, BCL also destroyed the atmosphere of free thinking, they added.

Following that way, BCL cadres recently attacked and injured two leaders of Chhatra Front and BCL often obstacles every activities protesting or condemning their atrocities, the speakers alleged.

After the rally, they handed over a memorandum to home minister through district administration to press home their demands, including prevention of alleged terrorist activities of BCL on different educational institutions.
