Man held with gold bars at Dhaka airport

Members of Airport Armed Police detained a man along with 1.141 kilograms of gold from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday.

The detainee is Sarowar Alam, 35, son of Md Solaiman of Dolai village in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram.

Additional Superintendent of Airport Police Alamgir Hossain said Sarowar came here from Dubai by a flight of Emirates Airline around 12 pm.

Armed police challenged him due to his suspicious movement at the airport.

Later, during interrogation he confessed that he was carrying nine gold bars, worth Tk 57 lakh, in his rectum which were recovered later.
