2 to die for killing child after rape

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Monsur Alam has sentenced to death the two accused in a sensational murder and rape case of a child. He passed the sentence in a crowded courtroom yesterday noon. The death penalty has been awarded awarded to Saidur alias Jack, 35, and Rana, 30. They have also been fined Tk. 1 lakh each.  The convicts were present during the delivery of the verdict.

On August 23, 2013, a 10-year-old child had gone to her aunt’s house at Pakuria from Majigram under Shahmukhdum police station. On her way back home around 2pm, Saidur and Rana started following the young girl and blocked her way. They dragged the girl into a bamboo grove and raped her repeatedly. Finally, they strangled her to death. Her body was recovered from an abandoned graveyard. Siddik Ali, the victim’s father, filed a murder and rape case against Saidur and Rana with the Shahmukhdum police station on August 24, 2013.
