Mymensingh road crash kills two

At least two persons including an engineer were killed and five others injured in a road crash on Mymensingh-Tangail road at Natun Bazar area in Muktagacha Municipality in Mymensingh yesterday morning.
The victims are-Md Harun-or-Rashid, 45, son of freedom fighter Haider Ali of Madhyahisya area in Muktagacha municipality; and an unidentified woman aged about 52. Harun was posted as sub-assistant engineer at Madhupur Municipality in Tangail and he was on way to Mymensingh for official purposes, said police.
The accident took place when a Tangail bound brick-laden truck collided head on with a Mymensingh bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw, killing two on the spot and injuring five others of the auto-rickshaw around 8.30am, said Mohammad Ali Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Muktagacha Police Station.
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) morgue for autopsy. The injured persons were also admitted at MMCH. Police seized the vehicles but the truck driver managed to flee. A case as lodged with the police station.
