The ‘Bangladesh Sangskritik Utsab 2020’ (Bangladesh Cultural Festival 2020) ended on Thursday on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. Aiming to present colourful performances of 64 districts, BSA has organised the event. On the concluding day, veteran cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam attended a discussion event as chief guest at Nandan Mancha of BSA. Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over the discussion and BSA Secretary Md Badrul Anam Bhuiyan delivered the welcome speech at the programme.

Following the discussion, the cultural programme began with the national anthem performed by the artistes of BSA. The BSA artistes also presented an acrobatic show and a number of music performances. Artistes from Barguna, Munshiganj, Khagrachari and Chattogram district presented their performances on the last of the festival.

Taking the stage, artistes from each district performed two group songs and two group dances. Later, solo music and instrumental musical performance also took place the event.  

Moreover, Ekta Natya Sangshtha staged traditional dhamail pala titled ‘Rai Kishori’ on the open stage of BSA. Written by Sajal Kanti Sarkar, the production is directed by Goutam Kar Tapan.  

During the 21-day festival, more than five thousand artistes from 64 upazilas of 64 districts participated in different segments. The festival featured chorus, dance and recitation themed on Bangabandhu and Liberation War, instrumental performance, local traditional games and sports, ‘jatrapala’, ‘baul’ songs, performance by specially-abled children and acrobatics. Besides, cultural performances by minority groups, puppet drama shows, documentaries and cultural performances based on government’s ‘district branding’ projects, solo dance and song presentations were also being presented as part of the festival.
