The local audience in Cox’s Bazar as well as the tourists, who came to the beach at the weekend, were mesmerized yesterday evening by performances of various artistes at the ‘Beach Cultural Festival 2020’. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), a prominent cultural organization of the country, for the first time, organised the two-day cultural programme at Laboni point of the beach in Cox’s Bazar. The programme is being held for four hours from 4pm.
The programme was launched with a colourful rally at the beach yesterday. BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky inaugurated the festival by releasing balloons in the presence of Cox’s Bazar Municipality Mayor Mujibur Rahman, Acting Deputy commissioner (DC) of Cox’s Bazar Md Ashraful Absar, Additional Police Super of Cox’s Bazar Adibul Islam, BSA Secretary Md Badrul Anam Bhuiyan and others.
After the inaugural ceremony, artistes of BSA performed acrobatic show, while artistes of ethnic minority from Bandarban performed an instrumental dance recital.
Local singers Manishi Barua rendered Rabindra Sangeet, Mina Mallick and child singer Mehrin Rahabbat Ifshita rendered a folk song at the event later on. Artistes of BSA, Ethnic Minority Group and local artistes of Cox’s Bazar performed solo music, group dances and regional songs and chorus rendition on the first day of the event.
Local child artiste Jahid enthralled the audience through his performance on ‘Modhu Hoi Hoi Bish Haoila’. Additional Police Super of Cox’s Bazar, Adibul Islam said, “I am giving my thanks to the BSA for choosing Cox’s Bazar as the venue, because I think nothing can be more beautiful than witnessing a show of this magnitude on a sea beach.”
Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky said, “I know Cox’s Bazar is a tourist spot. People from various districts of the country and from abroad come here to spend quality time. The BSA has an aim to spread arts to all over the country. That is why we chose Cox’s Bazar as the venue.”
Around 500 artistes from across the country are participating in this two-day festival.
