Two workers died after being pressed by a newly-built ship while floating it in the Brahmaputrar River from a dockyard in Narayanganj on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Yaa Rasul, 23, son of Giasuddin of Meghna upazila in Cumilla, and Russel, 32, of the same area. Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station, said the two workers of Sneha Shipyard and Engineering Works went beneath slipway while floating the ship in the river in the evening. Bandar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shukla Sarkar and other police officials visited the spot.
