Bangladesh are expected to fly to Pakistan to play the matches of the first phase of the upcoming bilateral series in Pakistan on January 22, just two days before the kick-off of the T20I series. Bangladesh will play a three-match Twenty20 international series in the first phase. All the matches will be played in Lahore on January 24, 25 and 27 respectively.
The Bangladesh squad for the series in Pakistan might be announced today or tomorrow. Considering the performance in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming series in Pakistan will be announced. It is learnt that the BCB selectors have meanwhile submitted a list of the players to the board. It may be announced within the next two days after getting the nod of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon.
A three-day-long short training camp will be held with the participation of the T20 squad at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur since January 19 and will continue till January 21. Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo, national team physiotherapist Julian Calefato and strength and conditioning coach Mario Villavarayan have already returned to Dhaka from their respective countries after ending their long vacation.
The coaches went to their respective countries after the conclusion of the last series in India. But BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu regarding the squad for Pakistan tour said that there is no more possibility of changing in Bangladesh squad. “There is no more possibility of changing in the Bangladesh squad, as it will be a back-to-back series. So, we will try to keep the same squad what toured in India,” said Minhajul Abedin Nannu.
“Of course, there is also a reason behind it. Those who were in India series almost everyone did well in BPL. So, we have to think only one or two places to change,” Nannu told media.
Probable Bangladesh squad: Mahmudullah Riyad (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Liton Kumar Das, Mohamamd Naim Sheik, Soumya Sarkar, Afif Hossain, Aminul Islam Biplob, Mehidy Hasan Miraj, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Shafiul Islam, Al Amin Hossain, Ebadot Hossain and Mahedi Hasan.
