Eastern Zone of Bangladesh Railway (BR) in a special drive yesterday evicted over 700 unauthorised establishments built in Ambagan area in the city and recovered about five acres of land. State officer of railway eastern zone Mahbubul Karim conducted the seven-hour eviction drive from 10am in co-operation with railway, its divisional state office and law enforcers. “We have evicted over 700 makeshift establishments and houses from city’s Ambagan railway colony area today upon the directives from the BR authority”, said Mahbub Karim, divisional state officer of Bangladesh railway eastern zone. The state officer said that the drives will continue for recovering other lands of BR in the port city.
