‘PSE-NPS 2020 Summit’ begins at KU today

A three-day Physiochemical Society of Europe –Natural Products Scientists (PSE-NPS) – 2020 summit will begin at Journalist Liakat Ali Auditorium of Khulna University (KU) today.
The Physiochemical Society of Europe (PSE) will organise the summit in association with the Pharmacy Discipline of Khulna University.
PSE-NPS 2020 Summit is being held with joint financial assistance of The International Society for Ethno pharmacology (ISE) and Society for Ethno pharmacology India (SFE India). The summit will focus on ‘Natural products for healthy living’ to explore the prospects and challenges associated with research in natural products and dietary nutrition for the well-being of the society and the nation.
The inaugural session will be presided over by the Chief Patron of the conference and Vice-Chancellor of KU Prof Mohammad Fayek Uzzaman while President of PSE-NPS 2020 summit and Head of the Pharmacy Discipline of KU Prof Ashish Kumar Das will deliver address of welcome.
Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque is expected to attend the summit as chief guest while Director General of Directorate of the Drug Administration Major General Mahbubur Rahman, Professor of the Life Science School of KU Raihan Ali, Treasurer of KU Prof Sadhan Ranjan Ghosh, Prof Satya Sarker, President of the Physiochemical Society of Europe and Director of School of Pharmacy and Bimolecular Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University, UK will also attend as special guests .
Call to invest in food, nutrition sector

Terming food safety and malnutrition as major challenge in Bangladesh, speakers urged entrepreneurs to bring commercially viable and innovative solutions in the market to solve the malnutrition problem, says a press release.
Poor diet is a major killer when it comes to maintenance of the wellbeing of consumers. Big investment can ensure improved diets for people. There are plenty of opportunities for entrepreneurs to make significant gains in the market through innovative solutions, they observed. They remarked while addressing Dhaka Roadshow titled ‘Bangladesh NutriStar: Nutrition Innovation Challenge’ at Daffodil International University (DIU) at Dhanmondi in the capital on Monday. The Nutristar aims to catalyze this innovative business with investment readiness training and access to technical and financial services.
Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and World Food Programme (WFP) organised the event in association with DIU and LightCastle Partners.
Moderated by Bijon Islam, CEO of LightCastle Partners, Collen O’Connor, nutrition officer of WFP, Asif Iqbal, lecturer of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Daffodil International University, Syed Muntasir Ridwan, national coordinator of Sun Business Network (SBN), Bangladesh, Zia Ashraf, co-founder and COO of Chaldal.com, Subrata Kumar Kundu, co-founder and CEO of Bhalo Social Enterprise, among others, spoke at the event.
