Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB) yesterday signed a contract with the Aviation Dhaka Consortium (ADC) regarding construction of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA)’s third terminal.
Chairman of CAAB Air vice Marshal M Mofidur Rahman and Mitsubishi Corporation general manager Yasunori Sakamoto signed the contract here at HSIA on behalf of their respective sides, a press release said.
Bangladesh Government and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are jointly financing the expansion project.
Earlier on December 28, 2019, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction work of the third terminal of HSIA by laying its foundation stone.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali was the chief guest while Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Md Mohibul Haque, Japan Ambassador to Bangladesh Naoki Ito and JICA’s Chief Representative in Bangladesh Hirata Hitoshi also present, among others, at the signing ceremony.
After completion of HSIA’s third terminal, it will ensure modern facilities with international standard for about 20 million passes through passengers per year, the release added.
