Touchstone statue recovered

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered a touchstone statue from Mollatola frontier area of the district last night.
On a tip-off, a patrol team of BGB recovered the statue from the area in an abandoned condition around 9 pm, said Lieutenant Colonel Mahmudul Hasan, commanding officer of BGB-59 Battalion. The estimated cost of 16.5-kg statue to be about Tk 16.50 lakh, he added.
1,000 distressed people get blankets

A total of 1000 poor and distressed people of Sundarganj upazila got blankets from Gaibandha Zila police on Tuesday to mitigate their sufferings caused by cold wave.
A blankets distribution function organized by district police was also held on the premises of Dhubni Kanchibari College of the upazila in the district. Superintendent of police (SP) Towhidul lslam attended the function as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Towhidul Islam said the district stood beside the poor and the distressed of the upazila believing on the theme “Mujib Borsher Angikar, Police Hobe Janatar”. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sundarganj Police Station Abdullahil Zaman, inspector Tazul Islam, in charge of Dhupni Police Investigation centre Mokhlesur Rahman, Kanchipara union parishad chairman Monowar Alam Sarker and local elite were present on the occasion.
