A neonate was found abandoned at BSCIC Area in Kushtia Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
Shopkeeper Lavlu saw the baby boy lying on Kushtia –Jhenaidah highway at about 8:00 am and took the child to the Kushtia 250-bed Hospital.
Physician Ayub Ali said the newborn weighs only two pounds, which is very low, and the boy is suffering from cold. As the hospital did not have any incubator the baby was shifted to Kushtia Medical College for better treatment.
AB Siddique, a child specialist at the Kushtia Medical College, examined the newborn and suggested that he should be shifted to Dhaka as early as possible.
