State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim said the re-registration of subscriber identity modules (SIMs) through biometric system was launched at all the customer care centers of different mobile phone operators yesterday on an experimental basis, reports UNB Tarana told this to reporters while visiting the customer care centers of some mobile phone operators in Gulshan area of the caital. “As per our previous announcement, the authorities concerned of all mobile phone operators have started their SIM re-registration using the biometric system from Sunday on experimental basis, and they will officially launch it on December 16 next,” she said.
The re-registration process will continue till April next year, she said, adding that if any unregistered SIM is found after the deadline, the mobile phone operator concerned will be fined.
