Renowned fiction writer and Rajshahi University teacher Hasan Azizul Haq received a death threat from an unknown number over mobile phone yesterday, reports UNB. Contacted, Hasan Azizul Haq said he received a phone call from an unknown number in the afternoon when the unidentified caller asked him whether he could change himself. As the caller was asked to make his statement clear, Hasan Azizul said, “The reply from the other side was - so you can’t change yourself. Then get ready. I’m coming.” The septuagenarian writer is yet to file any general dairy in this connection. “I have grown old now. What on earth they can achieve by taking my life. I’m rather worried about the young generation which has been raising the voice for progress,” he said. Officer-in-charge of Motihar Model Police Station Humayun Kabir said though the police are yet to receive a complaint over the death threat to the eminent writer, they are considering the matter with due caution. Earlier on November 10 last, Prof Emeritus of Dhaka University Dr Anisuzzaman received a death threat from an unknown number over his mobile phone.
