Nat’l athletics outside Dhaka after long time on natural turf

The 43rd Chattogram City Corporation National Athletics Championship will take place at the MA Aziz Stadium Chattogram from January 16. This time a total of 500 athletes from 64 districts, eight divisions, universities, education boards, BKSP, BJMC, Bangladesh Jail,  affiliated services teams including Bangladesh Army, Ansar VDP, Navy, Police  will compete in 36 events including women and men. Men athletes will compete in 22 and women athletes will take part in 14 events when Chattogram City Corporation is the sponsors of the three-day national meet.

Abdur Rakib Montu, general secretary of the Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF) informed all in a press meet yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) yesterday. BAF vice-president of the BAF Faruqul Islam was also replied different queries.

Faruqul Islam replying to a query said that as this time the national competition is going be held on a natural field there would be no record will be counted. Faruque said, “There is a far difference between electronic and hand-timing and we have to send the timings to international athletics federation. So hand-timing will not count as national record.”
