Finance Minister AMA Muhith, in his budget speech, yesterday said the government has taken a project to build a convention city under the public-private partnership (PPP).
The city will be constructed about 25 miles away from the Dhaka metropolis and will be linked to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Connected to the airport via express highway or sky train, this city will include a convention and exhibition centre, a food court, at least two five-star hotels, and a mega shopping mall.
The implementation of the project will begin from the next fiscal and be completed within two years’ time, the finance minister added.
