Law enforcers arrested 60 people in separate drives carried out in Jhenidah and Satkhira from Friday night till yesterday morning.
Our Jhenidah correspondent reports: Police arrested 29 people, including 11 leaders and activists of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir, from different places of the district early yesterday.
Additional superintendent of police Azbahar Ali Sheikh said a team of police conducted separate drives in six upazilas of the district and arrested them.
Later, they were sent to jail, added the ASP. Among them Azizur Rahman, ameer of Kotchandpur upazila unit of Jamaat, was arrested along with four crude bombs.
Police said the BNP and Jamaat men were arrested on sabotage charges.
In Satkhira, law enforcers in separate drives arrested 31 people, including 13 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-Shibir men, from different parts of the district.
The drive was conducted from Friday night till yesterday morning.
Enamul Haque, sub-inspector of the Special Branch, said a team of joint forces conducted separate drives in the district.
